Private support from donors gives the Department of Journalism an edge for excellence, allowing us to reward scholarly efforts and recruit top students and faculty.

Support the Department

Your gift may support an existing scholarship or fund, or it may create a new fund for current needs or an endowment to support programs into the future. You can also make your gift in honor of a faculty member or friend.

Our Funds

  • Associate Professor Emeritus John J. Breen Scholarship Fund. To provide scholarship support for full-time students enrolled in College with academic achievement and financial need, majoring in Journalism
  • Charles Litsky Memorial Scholarship. To support the University by providing scholarship support for undergraduate University students enrolled full-time with demonstrated academic achievement in the University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Department of Journalism.
  • Dave Solomon Scholarship. To provide scholarship support for undergraduate students enrolled full-time in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, majoring in journalism with demontrated academic achievement and financial need
  • Evan Hill Fund for Excellence.
  • Franklyn L. Litsky Fund.
  • Journalism.
  • Michael J. Whalen Award for Excellence in Journalism. To award a scholarship to an undergraduate with the desire to pursue a journalism career.
  • Terese Aronoff Karmel Award for Sports Journalism. For student support of undergraduates majoring in journalism and demonstrating excellence in sports journalism.
  • UConn Journalism High School Multimedia Camp Fund. The fund will provide eligible students with a full scholarship to participate in the camp at no cost. Funds will be used to pay for the overhead of the summer multimedia journalism camp.
  • Walter S. McGowan, Jr. Lectureship Endowment Fund.
