Connecticut & Area Internships

Students must meet a minimum of 195 hours to gain 3 journalism credits and must have completed Newswriting I (J2000) and Newswriting II (J2001) as well as Journalism Ethics (J3002) to undertake an internship for credit. Permission from Julie Serkosky (print and online) or Steve Kalb (TV and broadcast) for entrance into the Supervised Field Internship J4091 course is required. 
The UConn Storrs campus has several internships available in the fall, spring and summer semesters. They include: 

University Communications

  • UConn Communications tells the stories of UConn: its programs, students and faculty. Students must be prepared to attend events, interview faculty and students, write news stories on deadline and create a product that contains photos or other multimedia elements.

UConn Magazine

  • Interns write feature stories on anything that’s in the news, from Lizzie’s Curbside food truck to the UConn Boxing Club.

Creative Content Intern

  • Students must be juniors or seniors, majoring in journalism or a related field, have experience with news or magazine writing, and have a vehicle (mileage is reimbursed for work-related travel).
